Looking forward to finding a list of schools that are “site-based management” schools.
Right now, five public schools in Providence are “site-based.” They are:
Fortes (Elem)
Gregorian (Elem)
Cooley (HS)
Feinstein (HS)
PAIS (HS)
our family is moving to the east side of Providence and needs information on public and private schools for 5 and 6 year old. Would someone call me?. 727 599-6347
Thanks
Joan
For anyone reading the above, I’ve just called Joan and put her in contact with the Gregorian and King PTO chairs.
Can you tell me if Nathan Bishop will have an auditorium seating 250-300, and if it would be available for community groups?
Hi Joan,
I’m not sure about the auditorium size, though I can say that it’s quite large. I’ll try to find out.
However, I can say that yes, the plan is for the auditorium to be available to community groups. Do you have some group or groups in mind?
Tom
not sure if you’ve had suggestions for community groups who need space, but I know Mary Paula Hunter does. She runs East Side Ballet and Jump! performance group. It would be a win-win situation if she could call Nathan Bishop her home.
Hi Thomas,
Like Joan above, I too am planning a move to be near my parents near Brown.
Could you also pass along to me the same contact info?
Thanks in advance,
Mark Gates
For Joan: The auditorium seats about 400. We are hoping to engage community groups, but would also like to see those groups involved in the life of the school. More information can be obtained by contacting the PTO at info@nathanbishoppto.org, or by contacting the principal, Michael Lazzareschi, at the school (456-9344).
For Mark: A good starting point is the Providence Schools website http://www.providenceschools.org. A good local website with a lot of information is

Mark,
I run the tours at Vartan Gregorian Elementary School.
Feel free to contact me and I will help you out.
